George Peter 1922-1995: Select Paintings from the Ilene Wood Fine Art Collection

Exhibition is open until October 25th, 2015-all works are museum quality and available for sale. Ms. Wood, Art Patron, Philanthropist, New York Times Bestselling Author, Designer, and Fashion Consultant will be speaking in the gallery at 7:30pm on October 2nd on the artist’s work. George Peter was born in New York City in 1922 and maintained his studio was in Scarsdale, New York. He attended the School of Industrial Arts and the Brooklyn Museum Art School for four years. He spent three years in the Army both here and abroad and accumulated many sketches since his discharge from the Army in 1945 painting seriously.He is represented in the permanent collection of the Norfolk Museum of Arts and Sciences; the Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, NY; the Telfair Academy of Arts and Sciences in Savannah, GA; the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA and the Sheldon Swope Art Gallery in Terre Haute, IN. 1965 award in oil at the 24th Annual Exhibition of Audubon Artists at National Academy Galleries; 1966 Grumbacher Award at Westchester Art Society.
